Salmon Unlimited from Racine, WI has a key role in helping to establish and maintain Lake Michigan waters as a world-class salmon and trout fishery. With expert consultation from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, they launched their first monitoring buoy employing the SVS-603HR wave sensor. Salmon Unlimited recognized that information about real-time conditions is valuable for safety, determining where to cast lines for salmon, and also for understanding the impacts of climate change. As other Great Lake buoys have shown, boating and fishing communities are ‘hooked’ on the vital information these buoys provide.
